A country’s standard of living is not an accurate representation of a how everyone in that country lives. This is because many of the economic indicators and their data are mainly averages. This said, they will only show what the country would be like if everyone were equal. However, this is not true, and there could be many poor people with low health and many extremely rich people with great health. With an average, it just shows the country as a whole and can not always determine individuals.
The most interesting thing that I learned about standard of living is that though it may not accurately portray the people individually in a country, it still can give a very accurate representation of the country as a whole. For example, even if some people in the United States are poor and unhealthy, the majority of the country’s population is wealthier and healthy, and standard of living is to show just that. Without analyzing standard of living, the general state of a country would be hard to find because there is usually a big and diverse state of individuals.
I think that people in a country with a higher standard of living do have a big obligation to help people with low standard of livings. I think this because many countries with lower standard of living have resources that wealthier and healthier countries need. If a lower standard of living country has something, a wise thing to do is to keep them healthy. Also, compassion is important. If a country has a bad health and is poor, they are probably living very poorly, and might need help. Compassion is key.
